Tier -In 1993, at an American Legion post in Michigan, an idea was originated to start a motorcycle association that would operate within the American Legion. Today, that organization is known as the American Legion Riders (ALR) and can be found participating in parades, partaking in motorcycling events, and supporting the American Legion and the communities in which they live, work, and play. Members of the ALR come from the Legion, the Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion. There are 963 ALR chapters across the country and one of those chapters is located here in Erie County. Motorcycle Safety Program -NYSMSP offers the Basic RiderCourse for beginning motorcyclists and Advanced RiderCourses for riders who are interested in improving their skills. NYSMSP expects to train 16,000 motorcyclists per year and operates over 20 training sites throughout New York State. You will receive a MSF Course Completion card to present to your local DMV office for a road test waiver after successfully completing the Basic Rider Course. This card will allow graduates to go to the DMV and obtain their motorcycle endorsement. NYSMSP is always looking for qualified riders who want to become MSF-Certified RiderCoaches.
